Conventional Vampires is a queer, safe for work, campy vampire visual novel set in a convention. There are three routes to explore and plenty of wonderful interactions to be had--will you dare to try it?

It's been a few years since you were last in the big city, and the first thing you decide to do after unpacking the boxes at your new apartment is to go to a silly, spooky, monster fan convention: All Hallow’s Con.

The con seems like a great way to meet other queer folks in the area, and best of all, it ends with a festive ball on Halloween! There's no telling what might be laying in store for you at All Hallow's Con...

Just who will you meet when the doors open on Hallow’s Eve?

In Conventional Vampires, you can spend time with several wonderful, totally human people!

Social media-famous Lena (she/they) loves to create intricate cosplays of characters of all genders. Her expertise with sewing and design has made her invaluable to cosplayers in the con community.

Master of the anvil, Axel (he/him), creates metal and leather friendship bracelets as well as other pride items. He works a booth in the Artist Alley with some of his friends, and he is always excited to talk about his craft.

Fresh off of their well-loved motorcycle, Ellis (they/them) has a penchant for history and exploring the world around them. Their fondness for history extends to the supernatural, and they are always excited to talk about the latest local legend.

Developer's notes:
This is not an entirely final version of the game, as we still have a few pieces of content we wish to implement after the game jam ends. That said, we hope you enjoy our campy, vampy game!

Great game!!! All the characters seem really cool, loved playing Ellis' route so far. Getting to know them over the three days through dialogue and sharing their hobbies really felt like a friendship/romance growing. Looking forward to replaying for the other routes and whatever bits you're planning on adding with future updates! (Though I'd second a save/backtrack option, if that's possible to implement haha)

Bugs/inconsistencies I noticed (SPOILERS)

Going to the ball mentions the room was filled with the maid cafe just hours earlier, even though that happened the day before, and I been there for the concert since then.

When talking with Ellis after the ball the 'I'm good for now' option (as opposed to ask about their turning/will ask questions later) leads to them elaborating about their turning as if asked. Then after that the 'check in about monster language' option leads to some dialogue, then just blank box, basically ending the game.

Just finished my first play of the game and I loved it! Im gonna do a ton more, running through all the choice options next! But I wanted to bring up a suggestion (? more of a hope for future updates) for a save option or the ability to backtrack in either dialogue or choices

Also, is the ball the end of the game? I just finished the ritual and enjoying the moment and now I'm just kinda stuck on the ballroom scene, does the game not automatically take you back to the main scene when it finishes?

Update! I managed to get Ellis route, love 'em to bits! Anyways, we were talking and I chose to ask about my way of speaking about monsters, I got an answer before the game glitched and I got stuck back at the ritual and when I was given the choice tot look for someone, Ellis was no longer an option

Downloaded the unity version. Picked name picked her then your forced to pick one of everything. I wanted to pick cute and countess but you can't click just the two to start the game so you you tick them all so for the other one I just picked whatever. Not sure if there's a save option or not as I couldn't seem to find it. A save option would be nice so that we don't have to restart at every wrong pick as not everyone is interested in dudes. It would also be nice to label each option to show who it'll lead to as not everyone one is interested in dudes. Picked one option and it lead to a dude started all over and picked a new option it lead to yet another dude. I started all over yet again to finally I found the girl. Which wasn't that hard since it was the last option. I find it funny that she introduces herself as this. I'm Lena, she/they, by the way. I don't think most people go around telling everyone they meet their pronouns as that just seems weird. Picked a history of and was like dammit it's the dude again so lets start over again luckily it didn't take 3 picks this time to get the one that leads to the girl and she let me know what she was doing the next time so I could just click it without closing my eyes and throwing a dart at the wall. Lanyard makes me see her lugging around a ships rope with a badge attached to it. Next day picked option and I was like dammit it's that dude again well restart and try the other option. When going to the maid cafe picking head in I saw a error had to restart yet again to make sure and I was right and they called her count instead of countess checked other option as I had to restart yet again anyway and it also lists her as count instead of countess. Yet again when asking to sit alone FC was called count instead of countess. Yet again called count in the next line. Later Tia calles them count of mine. It seems all of the cafe stuff needs to be redone so it stops calling her count instead of countess as I just checked and even in the when you pick the option to be close to everyone she is listed as count. One spot didn't make much sense since you would have to touch everyone to be able to tell about the general lack of body heat from all of the crowd unless it's a really really really small room with not much ventilation. Spelling error her iext words held great weight. I closed the game after finding out that the  options you picked before this meant nothing at all. I was waiting for her to sweep me off my feet and instead I got hit in the face by a wet piece of paper. Hitting the ESC key causes the X button in th top left hand corner to disappear. Suggestion to anyone wanting to play this to  be seduced by the vampire of your dreams . I would suggest a hard pass as it's  all just boils down to a piece of paper and nothing more.

Hi myuhinny! First and foremost, thank you for playing our game and your feedback is incredibly valuable to us. We are sorry that some aspects of this game didn't appeal to you, but below are some background information to each of your concerns that we hope will ease them:

  1. This game was part of a game jam that ended about 6 days ago, so it was made under a time constraint and thus we were not able to fully implement everything bug-free. We are still working on it, and unfortunately Lena's route was one of the two that wasn't able to make it into our first release, nor did it make it into our most recent release. She is on the way, and I promise that the 'sweep me off my feet moment' for her is too.
  2. We are aware that there are some issues/bugs, such as the count/countess issue in the maid cafe. As mentioned above, we are still working on the game to make it as bug/typo free as possible, but a lot of us are a bit tired from crunching on the game and also have outside commitments. But do not worry, fixes are coming! It's just a lot of work to go through 45,000 words and fix everything, so it takes time. :P
  3.  The game jam that this game was a part of was of had the topic 'Queer Vampires', so each of our characters are queer and have different identities. This is part of the reason why we have characters introduce themselves the way we do, though it is not entirely unheard of to do so nor is it particularly seen as weird in the queer community.
  4. Visual novels, in our experience, typically do not have their choices labelled for each route, which is why that was not implemented. It was not intended to force a player towards our masculine characters. If there is a desire for it, we can look into posting route walkthroughs for the characters in a future dev-log to give players that want a specific outcome an opportunity to do so.

We hope that you will revisit our game in the future when we've made some more improvements and implemented the remainder of Lena's route, and Conventional Vampires' dev team thanks you for your input and review. Have a fang-tastic day!

really enjoyed the game. the backgrounds and music are just amazing!

The game has some bugs , especially with the choices towards the end - the ball part - but other than that, I really liked it ! The art is really nice, all the characters are fun and entertaining, overall - an enjoyable experience :3

i liked the aesthetic and characters but there were some issues with text display and i got soft-blocked on Ellis route when i was given the choice to order a drink; the text box was blank and i couldn't do anything

Hey, thanks for letting us know! I'll make sure that gets patched in the next update (1.0.3) :)
